1999 Chateau Reynella Shiraz Basket Pressed Tasting Notes

Mid neck fill. Deep purple robe. Lovely, developed bouquet. Thick, chocolatey fruit on palate with moderate tannins. No jamminess or heat (13.9% alcohol). Slightly past peak but better than the 1997 below because its 2 years younger. Still, very much like the 97. Nothing to be gained by holding on to it any longer. Patches of sludge inside of bottle. 90/100.

Low neck fill but cork extracted cleanly. Opaque purple/black in glass with thin cherry rim. Lovely, expansive bouquet. Good fruit on palate with drying tannins. No gratuitous sweetness or heat (13.5% alcohol). Probaly 3 or 4 years past its peak but drinking nicely. Lots of sludge inside bottle. Drink up! 89/100.

2009 Angels Landing Cabernet Sauvignon Tasting Notes

Super opaque,reddish-black color in glass. Closed nose. Excellent mouth feel and stylish fruit on palate. No heat or annoying acidity. Not an in your face wine or fruit bomb. Reminds me of a well made St. Julien. Hints of Rurherford dust. Drinking well now but needs 2 or 3 years to really open up. Should hold 6 or 7 years. 90/100.

2010 Gundlach Bundschcu Sonoma Coast Gewurztraminer Tasting Notes

This has always been one of my favorite California Gewurztraminers. Very pale gold color. Lovely varietal nose of spice and pears. Excellent body and fruit on palate. Very brisk. Dry finish. (14.4% alcohol) 88/100.

2008 Olivier Leflaive "Les Setilles" Tasting Notes

Pale gold color in glass. (13% alcohol) .Nice, soft bouquet. Good fruit and body on palate. Sort of a hybrid between a California Chardonnay and French white Burgundy. Well made if not too complex. No matchstick as feared. Ready to drink now. 88/100.

Thuggin

Yesterday I spotted this jaybird walking through the neighborhood. Never seen him before.  As you may know from previous posts, there have been a number of burglaries in the area so I have upgraded all my locks and installed deadbolts. It was cold and windy yesterday yet he wears a tank top.
