For the past few days I have noticed a few birds flying around in the garage, but never thought much of it till this morning when I noticed this nest on a shelf in the garage. The egg appears to be that of a house wren.

Possible Opossum Sighting

That looks like an opossum. Look at the tail.

Coon! Coon! Coon!

As you can see, my trail camera caught an unwanted visitor in my back yard early this morning. This is what I suspect has killed some of my chickens. 

Thieves in the Night

A while back I purchased a Wildgame trail camera to see what sort of critters come into my back yard at night to poach my chickens. I strapped it to the deck post near the chicken pen and here are the results from last night. So far no coyotes, racoons or opossums sighted but stay tuned.

Thuggin

Yesterday I spotted this jaybird walking through the neighborhood. Never seen him before.  As you may know from previous posts, there have been a number of burglaries in the area so I have upgraded all my locks and installed deadbolts. It was cold and windy yesterday yet he wears a tank top. 

More Security

I had two sets of steel patio doors installed yesterday, one in the basement and the one pictured here leading out to the deck. I put security bars under both. They'll have to try much harder to break in. Also got a new aluminum garage door.

Yesterday was a beautiful Spring day here so I decided to take my folding chair and a good book down to a local park. Here is the view.
