Last week me and my brother, two sisters, brother in law, niece and my oldest sister's step daughter vacationed at the Brosnan Forest in Dorchester, South Carolina. We have been coming here since the early 60s when my father worked for the Norfolk Southern Railroad. The last time was 1999 just before our father died. Its really a wonderful place - you can fish, golf, ride bikes, play tennis, horseshoes, shuffleboard, swim in the pool, or just relax in one of the most peaceful places on earth! Here are some pictures I took:
Entrance from Highway 78.
A view of the causeway between the two lakes going into the Forest.
A view looking back across the causeway towards the entrance.
A view of our cabin. These are duplexes but we had both sides plus half of another cabin.
A view of the swimming pool.
A cormorant in the middle of one of the ponds. In the winter, hundreds of these migrating birds can devastate the fish population.
There were plenty of ducks as well as Canadian geese.
I did manage to catch a few catfish.
A view across the upper lake with the causeway in the distance.
Pond # 9.
All the roads inside the Forest are sand and gravel
There were two laundry cabins.
Pond #4
There were a number of bushes like this.
