I collect old wine price lists and this is one of the more fascinating ones. Its a Summer 1959 issue from wine a shop called "the Cellar" in the Houston Club Building, apparently in Houston Texas. The middle photo shows 1947 Cheval Blanc listed for $14.95 in magnum or $161.45 a case! 1947 Cheval Blanc is generally acknowledged as one of the greatest wines ever made and would currently sell for many thousands of dollars for just a 750! The striking thing to me is not just the low price, but the fact it was sitting on a shelf in a wine shop. Today, it would only be found at auction. The bottom photo shows 1953 Petrus, another very expensive wine today listed for $5.40 a bottle or $58.30 a case. Amazing.
Thank you for this article, it will very helpful for wine lovers...
